Ash Wednesday

You are probably going to think I'm a party pooper, but I'm going to talk about Ash Wednesday.

It was all Fat Tuesday when I was young, but now I'm old, and Ash Wednesday is where I'm at, these days. Ash Wednesday is about change; actually, the start of change.

This year, things are going to be different.

Call me a party pooper. I don't care, but I know what I want, and it ain't being passed out in my own vomit. It never was. I used to pretend I was a party animal, but it was all crap, even back when I was young.

I could go on and on about this, but that would be the old me. The new me quietly sits at home, enjoying a peaceful life; forgetting all about the chaos, resentment, and pain of those old Fat Tuesday days.

If people from the old days saw me now, they would probably think that I'm really boring, and if my younger self saw me now, he would probably think the same thing, because I was very different then.

I love my life the way it is now. I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my quiet little home in the suburbs. I love my wife Michelle. I love my stepson Robbie.

You can take all the fame, fortune, Jammin' Jim, and other folderol. You can take fat Tuesday, too. Do what you want with it. I love the way things are now, and I'm not going back.

Yes, this is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. This year, God willing, I'm going to change. I'm going to grow more human.

In the coming days and months, I will continue to describe my journey to grow more human. Lent is a perfect time for doing this, so see you later.
